Job Description

HD Supply in Lakeland, FL is actively interviewing and making job offers to qualified applicants for the Digital Design Production Cell Lead position. This is a unique position that coordinates the activities of the prepress technicians by setting up the design and copy layout for products to be printed manually or digitally onto different types of substrates. At the Lakeland HD Supply you will be an essential part of the manufacturing process of customized signs, packaging, and other custom products both large and small scale.

Compensation commensurate with experience, starting between $18.50 - $22 / hour.

We are looking for applicants with Technical Certificates or AA in digital design plus work history OR a minimum 7 years experience working in: large scale print, print press, digital layout for production, etc.


What you should expect in the scope of work:

In the Digital Design Production Cell Lead role, you will have direct client interaction as you work on creating their custom creation. You will be drawing and laying out artwork using the customers information and direction using a computer to create drafts. Submitting drafts to the client for feedback, making suggestions for improvements as needed, and obtaining final approvals.

After creative approvals are obtained, you will lay out printed designs and information for printers using letterpress, offset and digital equipment. You will also create photographic negatives for the plate maker. Being the Cell Lead, you will be reviewing the operations and determine the best method for production of the clients custom orders. And ensuring that all needed supplies are ordered and maintained for the department.


Additional insight to the position:

  • Problems are typically difficult and/or high impact. Troubleshoots complex support or operational problems for junior-level associates.
  • Under limited supervision, independently resolves issues and applies a variety of methods to develop customized solutions. May lead the daily operations of a department or team. Work typically involves infrequent review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
  • Assists with supervisory duties but does not have hiring/firing authority. Trains, delegates tasks, and reviews the work of junior-level associates.


Work setting:

Your work setting will be generally comfortable while you are working on design and layout and customer interaction. But you will be coordinating with the production team with regular exposure to a manufacturing environment that includes variable temperatures, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes. You may from time to time assist with some moderate material handling (8-20 pounds) but not on a regular basis.
