- Manages the districts high schools; collaborates with all departments, including the business office, IT, transportation, facilities, safety, etc., as necessary to ensure the smooth operations of high schools
- Oversees curriculum and instruction practices as they pertain to high schools
- Oversees athletic programs to include compliance with AIA bylaws and district eligibility requirements;
- Coordinates all programs and schools offering high school credits;
- Maintains continuous improvement plans by working with schools and Federal Programs
- Collaborates with C and I staff to ensure implementation of SUSD curriculum and best practices of teaching and learning
- Serves as the liaison to post-secondary organizations including dual enrollment, to ensure a smooth transition to postsecondary
- Participates in the evaluation of school principals; assists and oversees grant options as they pertain to high schools
- Identifies opportunities in the implementation of career academies and strong CTE course offerings
- Coordinates college and career readiness
- Works closely with the K-8 Directors to ensure coherence in the instructional model and aligns to the Graduate Profile and Coherence Framework
- Provides professional learning opportunities; and performs other duties as assigned.

DEFINITION: Under administrative direction, the Director of High Schools works with the Chief Academic Officer to provide leadership for all aspects of the 9-12 instructional program. Coordinates initiatives with a focus on preparing college and career ready graduates. Works with building principals, program coordinators and other directors to develop academic programs that prepare students for career and /or future education upon graduation. Coordinates transition with district middle schools. Serves as the contact person for those institutions, businesses, and nonprofits seeking to support high school initiatives.

TASKS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of District and department policies and procedures.
Knowledge of curriculum development and evaluation methods, techniques, and practices.
Knowledge of athletics to include coaching practices, budget and facilities, and AIA bylaws.
Passion for increasing student achievement and educational access.
Strong facilitation, leadership, and communication skills.
Skill in project management, and advancement of key initiatives in complex environments
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor and lifting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field
Arizona Administrator Certification and/or five (5) years Administration Experience
Five (5) years of leadership experience at the high school level
High school teaching experience preferred
