Job Description

OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY

The Education Coordinator will provide support to the instructional program within the Behavioral Health Residential Facility. This position is responsible for working with students individually or in groups with specific activities in working with special needs, ELL, and students on 504 Plans. The Education Coordinator will be dedicated to ensuring student success by utilizing prior teaching experience and recognizing the importance of building positive relationships with students, staff, and outside partners in order to promote a rich learning environment. This position may serve students with any or a combination of, the following conditions: learning disabilities; emotional challenges; behavioral disabilities, and may perform related duties as assigned. Works closely with the Director of Residential and follows detailed instructions and/or established practices and procedures for most duties.

Responsible for assisting during the admission process and sharing academic opportunities for all incoming youth. Manages relationships with internal and external academic settings, ensuring all youth are enrolled in a school to best meet their individual needs. Provides educational advocacy and ongoing support for youth in an effort to achieve their educational goals. Responsible for preparing and maintaining documents for all education plans and needs. Will implement and maintain a supportive environment which is conducive to learning. Maintains all comprehensive records for the education program and provides training to all staff members in an effort to collaborate and communicate all academic needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

2) Florence Crittenton's Team Members will support compliance-related items by:

a. Following internal procedures and external regulations.

b. Bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.

c. Successfully completing regulatory training requirements periodically.

d. Working collaboratively in all facets of position to meet position requirements and support Agency goals.

4) Supervises students during both structured and non-structured times, ensuring that constant supervision is provided, and all safety practices are observed.

5) Provides students with assistance on completion of school assignments. Ensures support material is available for student use.

6) Supervises students during structured and non-structured times, such as lunch periods or during transition times. This includes assisting in other activities outside the classroom involving the residents.

7) Promotes learning through supportive teaching methods.

8) Presents teacher-prepared lessons in a small group or individual student setting.

9) Assists in the administration of student testing.

10) Prepares reports and other correspondence, as requested by supervisor or administration.

11) Maintains classroom discipline and organization. This includes keeping students focused on tasks and organizing classroom activities, as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Education preferred Associates degree (or college equivalent 60 credit hours) or Paraprofessional Assessment Exam Completion is accepted. Two years working with adolescents in an organized setting (such as a residential treatment program, youth program, school, etc.). Previous school collaboration efforts preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Required:
  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
  • Maintain a valid and unexpired Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Able to obtain CPR (adult and infant), CPI, and First Aid certification, before working alone.

    Ability to work a flexible schedule required to fulfill duties of the position; this may include days, nights, evenings, and/or weekends; including assisting with coverage at other campuses within the agency. At times, individuals must work in a fast-paced environment to handle and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands and seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
