SUMMARY:
Performs skilled electrical work installing, altering, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment and systems.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Monitors, inspects and performs work to ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations.Coordinates preventive maintenance with emergency and repair work activities.Ensures safety procedures are observed.Builds, repairs, and installs as directed within capabilities of the trade.Coordinates planning, scheduling, and implementation of activities to accomplish work in cooperation with other sections of department and/or other hospital departments and services.Mounts motors, transformers and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, and voltmeter, testing lamp or growler.Repairs, installs, tests and replaces electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.Inspects and performs safety tests on electrical lighting, emergency generators, alarm systems, and HVAC system.Assists with the preparation for long and short range strategic plans to meet facility needs.Installs repairs and calibrates electrical and electronic recording devices, and regulates control instruments.Develops estimates of time, labor, material and cost requirements.Extracts data from sources such as blue prints, engineering orders, reports and specifications.Performs or directs electric circuiting work in the hospital including installation of new branch, lighting, life safety, and other circuits as needed; ensures all circuit breakers are properly marked as to circuits they control.Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and specifications; translates into blueprints for application by engineering and trades personnel.Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.Performs related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION: Associates degree from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides Journey level training.EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of related electrical maintenance experience.LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Ability to pass asbestos and respirator physical.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Knowledge of electrical code and proper safety rules and regulations.
- Skill in maintaining electrical components and equipment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
