Job Description
Facilities Development and Management seeks an Electronics Repair Technician to troubleshoot and maintain field devices and technology, including utility and energy meters. Identify issues, initiate repairs, and restore data and functionality. Provide support to users of information technology tools and energy information systems.

This is not a grant funded position and is not contingent on future grant funding.
Salary Range
$60,000-$65,000 per year, commensurate of experience and education. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona.

Essential Duties
· Identify causes of problems when electronics, hardware, and software are not operating properly and take appropriate action.
· Troubleshoot, monitor, repair and replace meters for the Energy Information System (EIS) utilized to monitor and report energy usage across ASU campuses.
· Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all EIS field devices, including but not limited to: SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), Remote Operations Centers (ROC’s), Switch gear, Modbus TCP Gateways, Chilled water meters, Steam meters and kW meters.
· Perform preventative maintenance repairs on EIS meters and system hardware and evaluate opportunities for improvement.
· Identify and repair issues within the EIS infrastructure, including meters, sensors, servers, and switches etc.
· Identify potential issues with data and communication pathways for the EIS.
· Evaluate EIS energy use data to identify device or system issues such as incorrect data or loss of data.
· Coordinate with other ASU departments for additional EIS repairs and services.
· Assist Capital Program Management Group and vendors in installing EIS equipment and meters.
· Use ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
· Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
· Days: Monday-Friday
· Hours: 7:00am to 3:30pm
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in technology or related field; OR, Four years experience providing information technology services; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.

Evidence of effective communication skills.
Working Environment
Work in extreme and varying temperatures, restricted movements, confined spaces (tunnels, manholes, vaults), and intense noise. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds is required. Wear personal protective equipment (e.g. safety glasses, face shield, gloves).
May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific process to be followed, and may include the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, negative pressure and positive pressure respirator). Use of PPE may require medical clearance prior to use. Drive University vehicle and/or cart.

This position is located at the Tempe campus.
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39-month period from date of hire.
Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment to include audiogram, asbestos worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire and respiratory fit test.
This position may require working a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule and may be called in for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays.
