Position Summary | The University of New Mexico, School ofMedicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medical ServicesConsortium, is seeking part-time Paramedics. The successful applicants willrespond to state wide emergencies under the supervision of the EMS MedicalDirection Consortium. They will work to support theEMS Academy and EMS Consortium through remote on site clinical care andeducation. The individuals will be responsible for primary advanced lifesupport patient care directly supporting EMS Consortium contracts. This position requires a minimum of threestand-by (on-call) shifts monthly with the ability to respond for up to12-hours or possibly longer per call out. Paramedics attend emergency medical requestsas they arise; render on-site emergency assistance to patients as required. Ourteam performs or assists in the initial assessment and management of illness orinjury to emergency patients in accordance with specified protocol andprocedure. Prepares or assists in the preparation of patients for transport,ensuring compliance with emergency medical transport regulations, protocol, andprocedure. Provides or assists in the provision of basic direct patient care,as required in each individual case. Follows established departmental policies,procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, andsafety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Inspects emergencymedical equipment to ensure serviceability and compliance with safety andinfection control regulations and standards. Completes and transfers patientcare information and records as per established procedures. Performsmiscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications |
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience in the field of pre-hospital EMS. Certification/Licensure: NM licensure as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/Paramedic. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |

Additional Requirements | Pre-Employment physical exam required. Must be able to obtain a UNM Vehicle Drivers License upon hire. May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening. UNM Provides Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.-Official transcripts, High school diploma, or GED certificate will be required for hire. Please see minimum qualifications for specifics. |
