DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Specialist coordinates the services of an employee assistance program
by providing assessments and assistance to employees with issues affecting job-related performance and personal
well-being. Work involves assessing the mental and physical health needs of the employee population and to rely
on experience and professional judgement to recommend outside treatment and counseling if necessary. Work
also includes developing, implementing and conducting training programs relating to EAP and assisting
departments in conducting in-service employee health related training as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conduct assessments of employees requesting employee assistance.Coordinate aide and counseling to Community employees who have personal problems involving job, family,
health, drug or alcohol use.Coordinate and monitor drug screening for post accidents, just cause and random.Coordinate and impart substance abuse and drug screening training (per policy) to the employee workforce
and/or supervisory staffDevelop, design, and facilitate training programs in support of the Communitys employee assistance
function.Collaborate with other departments to pull resources to address employee wellness.Record and maintain EAP related information and develop reports as needed by Director for reporting
purposes; maintain con?dential ?les and records.Consult with all levels of Community personnel, including department heads, supervisors, concerning
employees experiencing personal/work problems.Establish relationships with and serve as a liaison to referral resources, professional counselors, physicians,
and organizations providing chemical dependency treatment, behavioral and mental health services to
Community employees.Coordinate the development and use of EAP material and activities that encourage the use of the program by
employees and leadership.Develop and coordinate critical incident team.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of staff development and professional training.
0 Knowledge of current practices of organizational development and constructive problem solving.
0 Knowledge of counseling techniques and treatment standards for behavioral health issues, chemical
dependency, addictions, and co-dependency.Knowledge of wellness programs, resources, and services.Knowledge of personnel methods and techniques of modem public personnel administration.Strong interpersonal skills.Must be a person with high integrity, honesty and display professional decorum.Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to communicate orally in the English language with individuals in face-to-face one-on-one or group
telephone.Ability to implement programs to comply with Federal Drug-free workplace requirements.Ability to provide educational presentations and training programs.Ability to formulate reports, compose correspondence.Ability to perform extensive research, make independent analysis, and report ?ndings.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Of?cials
and the general public.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Human Relations, Behavioral or Social Science, or
a closely related ?eld and three (3) years experience in casework or employee assistance, counseling, or any
combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this
position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
0 Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state driver license with current proof of driving record
for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal operators permit. Proof of driving record must
be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days sold from the date of submission of the
application.Required to pass a background check.
CEAP - Certi?ed Employee Assistance Professional - Care management required to obtain within one year fromcompletion of probationary period.Non-Supervisory, Salaried Position
