DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Environmental Quality Project Associate is responsible for conducting environmental regulation work

projects; assist the program and staff with a wide range of environmental projects. This position consists of a

combination of field and office work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Provide assistance on environmental projects to the Program Manager and other staff members.

 Collect environmental field data from air, groundwater, surface water, soils, drums, tanks, lagoons,

ponds and other media or items suspected of containing contaminants or for characterizations of other

environmental parameters.

 Conduct research on issues related to environmental projects; compile historical data from Tribal,

Federal and State agencies; enter environmental data/information into computer database and

spreadsheet.

 Assist staff in developing and implementing environmental related projects with an emphasis on surface

water, groundwater, soil and air programs; conduct facility inspections; implement Tribal ordinances;

provide technical assistance on pollution prevention controls; conduct assessments and works on

environmental permitting activities.

 Assists in environmental mapping projects and assist in coordinating field activities with federal

agencies, consultants, Tribal departments and land owners/operators.

 Make presentations at public meetings and assist in developing federal grant proposals, and maintain

program records.

 Review and comment on plans, specifications, designs, reports, studies and procedures relating to

environmental management and compliance.

 Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

 Knowledge of computer software, especially word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

 Skill in analyzing problems, identifying solutions and making recommendations in support of goals and

objectives.
