Job Description

Job Title: Extended Care Supervisor Status:
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Department/Location: Immaculate Heart Academy, Oro Valley, AZ

Primary Function: Under the direction of the Extended Care Director, is responsible for the supervision of students in the school during Extended Care after regular school hours. The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, "Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received." (Eph. 4:1)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recognize and support the unique Catholic Mission of the Diocese by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The employee may not espouse, in word or deed, any doctrine inconsistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Give evidence of living Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community and being open to the importance of a personal faith journey; strive to model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
  • Supervise students during Extended Care to ensure child safety.
  • Provide a spirit filled environment.
  • Maintain discipline as required during the assigned times of supervision.
  • Remind students about water intake and regulate rest periods.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all children under supervision.
  • Attend and provide evidence of 18 hours of professional development workshops/trainings annually from the date of hire.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements relative to the care and instruction of school children.
  • Maintain an awareness of the grounds where students are supervised and report any concerns regarding maintenance and/or safety.

Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity; normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal office environment; ability to spend extended amounts of time outdoors.

Required Activities: Walking; light jogging; sitting; standing; stooping; reaching; talking; hearing; and carrying.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church; be in full communion with the Church.
  • Excellent communications skills, oral and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parents, students, and the general public.
  • Must be a self-starter, well organized and able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, punctuality a must at all times.
  • Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal history and background check.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
Education and Experience:
  • High school graduate or equivalent education.
  • 1-3 years work experience related to the care and instruction of children, or equivalent experience.
