Job Description

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Facilities Management Supervisor is responsible for the administration and management of a maintenance

program within an institutional facility of the Gila River Indian Community. General supervision is provided by

the department director or designee.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Direct and coordinate the activities of institutional maintenance staff engaged in preventative and routine

maintenance for the assigned institution(s).

 Plan, organize, and direct building grounds maintenance.

 Responsible for administering counseling and disciplinary actions to department's maintenance staff; make

recommendations for staff hiring.

 Provide technical assistance and advice on projects to other supervisory staff, where appropriate; coordinate

special projects as assigned.

 Responsible for ensuring sub-departments adhere to work specifications and maintain adequate inventory of

supplies and equipment through periodic audit checks; take immediate corrective action when discrepancies

occur.

 Ensure sub-departments conduct safety training for department employees.

 Provide and update department emergency preparedness, maintenance and communication of severe weather

procedures, and other emergencies.

 Periodically conduct random monitoring of emergency after-hours maintenance; call to ensure mechanics are

performing in accordance with established on call maintenance plan.

 Supervise and coordinate the development of procedures for a work order system; responsible for all activities

related to the work order system.

 Responsible for developing and maintaining policy and procedure for inventory controls, disbursement of

supplies, materials and equipment, and control of tools and hazardous chemicals used by institutional

maintenance staff and the facility used to store.

 Ensure subordinate staff comply with security policy and procedures.
