Job Description

Facilities Management seeks a Facilities Services Supervisor to, under direction, plan, organize, schedule, and coordinate the activities of craft, trades or labor staff (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry), within campus zones, in the construction, repair, maintenance and installation of campus building equipment and/or systems.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $63,000 per year or commensurate of experience and education. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the field appropriate to the area of assignment AND four (4) years related construction or maintenance experience which includes one (1) year supervisory experience; OR, Eight (8) years related construction or maintenance experience, which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment. Some positions may require a pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment to include asbestos worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire and respiratory fit test. May participate in programs which involve adherence to program regulations, including physical exam, annual testing, x-rays, medication, vaccinations at ASU expense, and completion of a Health Surveillance Questionnaire.


Desired Qualifications

Experience in:

·       higher education facilities management

·       supervising employees (2 years)

·       building and/or trade maintenance and repair in a commercial, industrial, or educational environment

·       ordering building materials

·       maintenance of higher educational facilities (classrooms, laboratories, student life, etc.)

·       estimating and managing repairs

·       using computers (e.g., MS Office, inventory management database programs)

·       using work order systems (e.g. WebTMA)

·       customer service

·       managing a robust preventative & predictive maintenance program to include identifying requirements, scheduling the work and ensuring all systems function efficiently and within required specifications

·       equipment life-cycle and replacement costs, including depreciation schedules

·       electrical preventive maintenance related to university, commercial or industrial

·       electrical experience with voltage ranging up to 12,470 VAC

Demonstrated knowledge of:

·       state, local and federal building codes

Evidence of:

·       effective communication skills


Working Environment

·       Job duties are performed in and around the Arizona State University both inside and outside, and in all types of weather. 

·       Required to stand for varying lengths of time. 

·       Utilize specific hand tools and equipment related to essential duties. 

·       Stand, lift, bend, stoop, and kneel. 

·       Work off ladders, scaffolding, single man lifts up to 40 feet. 

·       Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

·       Wear personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves). 

·       Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. 

·       Ability to communicate to perform the essential functions of the job. 

·       Ability to push and/or pull approximately 200-300 pound weight loaded on wheeled maintenance carts to transport tools and equipment throughout campus to job site. 

·       May drive University vehicles.

This position is dependent on the continuation of funding from a specific source other than general operating funds. As such, this appointment may terminate when the funding is no longer available.


Facilities Development and Management at ASU employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States. Facilities Development and Management will not be a sponsor for this position.


This position is located at the Tempe campus.


Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D) upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month period from date of hire.


Must pass pre-employment physical examination post offer of employment to include asbestos

worker clearance, respiratory clearance questionnaire and respiratory fit test. 


This position may be called in for emergency response including nights, weekends, and holidays.
