SUMMARY:
Oversees and supervises contractors, sub-contractors, venders and all other personnel involved in construction projects at Tucson Medical Center. Responsibilities include daily project checks and providing documentation and reports to address issues such as Interim Infection Control Safety Measure and Interim live Safety Measures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.Performs primary crafts supervises and assists in all phases of construction as needed to help ensure that all work is completed on time and on schedule.Maintains current pneumatic tube system, researches new design options, implements changes for improvement and trains staff on proper use and maintenance needs.Monitors and controls expenses within approved budget allocations.Coordinates workloads, inspects and monitors activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.Works within interim life safety guidelines.Works within Interim Infection Control Safety Measure guidelines.Develops estimates of time, labor, material, and cost requirements.Works with the improvements construction team on developing project schedules.Reviews work in progress; checks and inspects as necessary for conformance to job specifications and building codes.Extracts data from sources such as blue prints, engineering orders, reports and specifications.Organizes and maintains an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.Maintains project documentation, and provides frequent written status updates to the management team.Ensures complete and proper logging of files and records and required cost computation of time spent, materials and supplies used for each completed requisition or work order.Coordinates planning, scheduling, and implementation of activities to accomplish work in cooperation with other sections of department and/or other hospital departments and services.Oversees and works on projects involving the construction, alteration, or modification of buildings and facilities.Expedites purchase of materials and equipment for owner as required.Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.Performs related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED certificate, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of related project management or oversight experience in commercial/ industrial construction, and hospital experience preferred.LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:Contractor / Supervisor certificate for asbestos (CAC), Asbestos Certificate (AC)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of all aspects of construction and project management.
  • Skill in evaluating a project and determining cost and time estimates that are accurate within an acceptable margin of error.
  • Skill in overseeing projects and keeping records to ensure there are not cost or time overruns.
  • Ability to manage contractors and staff to ensure communication and understanding of all phases of a project.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
