Role Summary/Purpose:

This Field Sales position is responsible for selling client leadership on the benefits of Synchrony’s products to drive merchant engagement and exceed credit goals.  As the Field Sales manager, you will be expected to maintain client relationships through in-person, in-store visits, drive effective and timely communication, develop in store strategies, and support our Synchrony Client Relationship Teams in evangelizing messages. 

  • This position will be based from a home office in the Northern California area.
  • Territory includes CA/Pacific Northwest and requires significant overnight travel 75%.
  • This position qualifies for a company car, iPad, mobile phone, laptop.
  • Position is eligible for sales incentive compensation.
  • Position reports to the Vice President of Field Sales. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive application and sales volume to meet/exceed monthly goals.
  • Meet/exceed additional performance measurements based on client Visit Reaction, Territory Management and Visit Goals.
  • Make in store, in person, visits to develop and maintain key client relationships at all levels.
  • Proactively communicate and respond to client issues; support Synchrony client team initiatives.
  • Utilize identified sales strategies, including prioritization, diagnosis, and treatment during in store visits to achieve results; document all activity in Salesforce.
  • Act as a liaison between merchants and Synchrony; bridging merchants to systems including The Learning Center and Business Center.
  • Audit, verify and support in-store signage, point of sales material, compliance needs and processes on behalf of merchants.
  • Manage T&L budget.
  • Maintain in-depth client and industry knowledge (competitive intelligence) to support/develop client strategy.
  • Engage in ongoing skills and talent training.
  • As requested, engage internal functions of sales, marketing and operations to provide Voice of Customer. 
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
     

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 3+ years of retail field/outside sales experience
  • 2+ years of Client Relationship building experience
  • PC Skills; Excel, PowerPoint and MS Office, Salesforce.com
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes weekends and holidays
  • Willingness to travel OVERNIGHT, 75% of the time
     

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous Field Sales experience; including Territory Management and Business Development 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit- ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, training, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Openness to coaching and ability to learn quickly 
     

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • Effective 1-1-18, new hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must have at least a "consistently meets expectations" performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 52,000.00 - 110,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
