Job Description
The Knowledge Enterprise (KE) Finance, Initiatives and Institutes Team is seeking a Financial Specialist, Sr. This position will be located at Arizona State University’s SkySong location in Scottsdale, Arizona. Under general supervision, this position manages accounts and financial functions for assigned department or departments within the Knowledge Enterprise. These functions include but are not limited to maintaining and retention of unit financial documentation and files; account management; financial services compliance; internal controls; and other functions designated by unit administrator. Directly impacts the University goal of increasing research expenditures through the effective management of accounts.
Salary Range
$50,823 - $60,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties
- Assists with ensuring adherence with university policies, practices and regulations
- Provides medium assistance with sponsored post-award management for assigned unit(s)
- Monitors and processes a heavy volume of financial transactions from multiple funding sources, (i.e. local, sponsored, and gift).
- Provides support in unit-wide account reconciliations, including preparation of financial reports and documents
- Provides support in procurement card reconciliations, including preparation of financial documents and accuracy of purchasing transactions for goods, services, and equipment
- Interacts regularly with and provides high quality customer service to staff within the assigned unit(s) on finance and expenditure policies and procedures
- May supervise, train and evaluate student workers or full-time staff
- Resolves financial discrepancies and works as a liaison between the unit and Financial Services to reach a solution
- Assists with reviewing and approving Travel Expense Reports in the ASU travel system, may be asked to assist with reviewing and approving Travel Requests.
- Prepares and reviews journal entries and general ledger expense transfers, billing and invoicing, payroll redistributions, account reconciliations, and staff expense reports
- Assists with reviewing and approving requisitions, including Independent Contractor Agreements, and supplier invoice payments for completeness and accuracy for efficient processing of purchase requests, including purchase orders and pcard payments
- Identify specific areas and solutions for process improvement, and draft changes to methods, procedures, and work instructions.
- Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the continual efficient operation of department and to meet customer service needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience, OR, seven (7) years of related experience, OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with sponsored post-award management.
- Experience with local and gift accounts.
- Experience with Arizona State University systems, Workday, Concur, Peoplesoft, and querying tools such as Amazon Workspaces.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as, Word and Excel.
- Experience working in a team environment with constantly changing priorities.
- Experience supervising and managing student workforce and associated work.
