DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Fleet Manager performs a variety of tasks related to the establishment and implementation of the Community
motor pool. This position is under general supervision of the Director, Department of Public Works.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


- Reviews motor pool surveys from tribal departments, programs, and Community Council to assess the needs of
the Community and provide preliminary reports and recommendations for implementation.Identi?es ?eet management policies and procedures for Community implementation.Implements auto maintenance and repair policy for all vehicles.Establishes and maintains a computer database on existing Community vehicles.Develops and assigns numbers to identify vehicles by usage, program, or department.Oversees the ordering and purchasing of new vehicles; Oversees the maintenance of new and existing vehicles.
Ensures vehicles receive necessary service and maintenance under the warranty speci?cations.Updates existing vehicles and vendor bid speci?cations; Reviews vehicle purchase requests.Receives and inspects vehicle equipment; Obtains vehicle registration and title, including handicap placards.
Develops programs to extend the life and reliability of vehicles and ensures safe operations.Coordinates with tribal departments and programs (i.e., Insurance of?ce, Property and Supply, etc.) to ensure
all vehicles have appropriate registration and insurance coverage and to establish and maintain a motor pool.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:

- Knowledge of management principles and practices including program development, employee supervision
and training.Knowledge of budgeting and purchasing procedures, vehicles, equipment, brands and parts.Pro?ciency with data entry and spreadsheet applications.Skill in using ?eet management software for computer application.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing.Ability to prepare required records and reports.Ability to effectively plan and supervise the activities of others.

0 Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Of?cials and the general
public.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:


- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration,
Automotive Technology, or closely related ?eld and ?ve (5) years experience in ?eet management or in the
procurement, operation, maintenance and repair of ?eet equipment/vehicles and which included two (2) years
supervisory experience; OR

- Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration,
Automotive Technology or a closely related ?eld and seven (7) years experience in ?eet management or in the
procurement, operation, maintenance and repair of ?eet equipment/vehicles and which included three (3) years
supervisory experience; OR0 Nine (9) years experience in ?eet management or in the procurement, operation, maintenance and repair of ?eet
equipment/vehicles and which included four (4) years supervisory experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
0 Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.
