DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Gaming Investigator performs background investigations of prospective employees and vendors to determine

if they meet the standards prescribed in the Gaming Compact and Tribal Gaming Ordinance as they relate to the

gaming operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Investigate background history of prospective employees, license reclassification, and vendors to the level

necessary to maintain the integrity of Indian Gaming; Fingerprint prospective employees; Conduct credit

reports on prospective and current prospective vendors.

  • Assist the gaming office management in the investigation of Gaming Compact/Ordinance violations; Make

recommendations to correct problems or conditions that would violate the Compact or Tribal Ordinance.

  • Set-up and maintain computer files regarding backgrounds and other investigations in a secure environment.
    • Conduct Gaming facility audits regarding policies and procedures.
      • Establish and maintain liaison between the gaming office, other casinos, and local, state, and federal law

      enforcement agencies; Maintain and update information between other Inspector groups, casino security

      department, and law enforcement agencies.

      • Work in unison with the Arizona Department of Gaming, other Gaming Agencies, and the National Indian

      Gaming Commission to ensure licensing of Class III personnel and all vendors are complete.

      • Collect and transport fingerprint cards to the Arizona Department of Gaming and the Arizona Department of

      Public Safety for processing.

      • Complete a Background Investigation Summary Report for submission to the Gaming Office; Make license

      eligibility recommendations to the Gaming Commissioners, Executive Director, or designee.

      • Conduct special investigations for the Gaming Office as required and conduct background investigations.
        • Perform other related duties as assigned.
        • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
          • Knowledge of gaming regulations, compacts, and Minimum Internal Control Standards.
            • Knowledgeable of information and laws governing the use and release of information.
