Position Description

The Town of Marana is seeking a GIS Analyst to work in the Technology Services Department. The GIS Analyst is a member of the Town's GIS team who takes responsibility for implementing parts of the GIS architecture using industry best practices. This includes data set creation, maintenance, scripting, testing, and learning new technologies. The position will also be expected to provide customer and architectural support specific to an enterprise using a wide array of ESRI tools (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcPro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), etc.)

Hiring Range: $50,569 - $63,212

Examples of Duties

  • Performs GIS analysis by creating maps using cartographic standards; utilizing GIS tools and methodologies; and printing or saving maps.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes plans to create, exchange, share and integrate digital data; provides continuous development, operation and maintenance of the GIS, including component layers of the system database, and assists with implementation designs.
  • Follows geospatial industry trends and evolution to ensure users have the best resources at their disposal; helps define the product roadmap and provides guidance on the same
  • Regularly works with industry-standard technologies such as ArcServer, REST, Python, XML, etc.
  • Designs, formats and performs quality checks on data used within an enterprise geodatabase.
  • Work efficiently with project teams on day-to-day project work, respond to customer service requests, assisting with projects relating to the GIS strategy, providing technical assistance and guidance
  • Performs periodic field checks of data using GPS hardware.
  • Provides technical support to system users; instructs staff members on use of GIS software and other software applications, installs and configures new instances of GIS software.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or closely related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in GIS or Web Development
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.

  • Experience using ArcEnterprise/ArcServer, ArcDesktop & ArcGIS Pro
  • Highly skilled in GIS data creation and management
  • Proven experience in working with any combination of the following scripting and data interchange technologies: Python, XML, REST)
  • Must pass a fingerprint clearance background check and Town of Marana background check
