DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Graf?ti Abatement Technician is responsible for performing police related tasks pertaining to graf?ti
(locating, surveying, and removing graf?ti from property throughout the Community to include all private
property and Community property). Patrols high graf?ti activity areas to remove new graf?ti before it attracts
more; responds to complaints or concerns from the public regarding graf?ti; involved with the public to remove
and prevent additional graf?ti, to educate the public on reasons for graf?ti and graf?ti removal procedures. Works
with sworn members of the Gila River Police Department regarding gang related graf?ti removal and photographs
all graf?ti prior to removal. Evaluates the status of equipment and affected facilities; schedules and performs
needed graf?ti removal application and maintains inventory of paint and graf?ti removal chemicals. This position
works under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and evaluate graf?ti removal throughout the Community.
0 Locate, survey, and perform graf?ti removal from property throughout the Community to include all private
property and all Community property with the use of spray pump, paint brush, and other methods or painting
equipment.
0 Assist with graf?ti enforcement activities and patrol high graf?ti activity areas to remove new graf?ti.
0 Respond to complaints or concerns from the public regarding graf?ti.
- Responsible for providing information regarding educational knowledge of graf?ti, prevention, and
information regarding removal of graf?ti, to the public.
0 Evaluate status of equipment and affected facilities; schedule and perform needed graf?ti removal
applications.
0 Maintain inventory of paint and graf?ti removal chemicals.
0 Photograph and document (written report) the location of graf?ti and provide this information to a designated
Police Supervisor.
0 Perform general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable
condition.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:I Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and tribal laws, codes, and regulations.I Considerable knowledge of proper police procedures in relation to con?dentiality.I Must have the ability to work independently in various weather conditions.I Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, bending over and stopping as required.I Must be able to perform repetitive movements and lift ?ve (5) gallon paint buckets and other painting
equipment.I Basic knowledge of modern photographic techniques and equipment, including video.I Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and other Microsoft programs.I Must have good oral and written skills.I Ability to display discretion and integrity in the performance of duties.I Ability to bend, stretch, stoop, reach, and climb (stairs or stepladders).I Ability to work irregular hours, holidays, weekends, and call outs.I Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Of?cials
and the general public.I Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years experience in painting/maintenance; or any
equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to
perform the work.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
0 Must be at least 21 years of age and never been convicted of a felony nor convicted of a misdemeanor (other
than minor criminal traf?c offense) within a period of one (1) year preceding submittal of employment
application nor ever been convicted of an act of domestic violence involving a weapon or serious injury.
0 Required to pass a background check and ?ngerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must
maintain throughout duration of employment.
0 Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.Non-Supervisory, Hourly Position
