Position Summary

Under the Children’s Support Group Manager, the Group Facilitator (GF) provides services to families and children to meet their individual needs.


As a member of the Children’s Support Group (CSG) team, the GF will be responsible for facilitating group services for school age children Kindergarten-12th grade and families. The CSG GF will build rapport with the children and be able to implement the group curriculum with fidelity. The CSG GF should be able to support the needs of the children and adults enrolled in groups as they present themselves within the group setting and address those needs as quickly as possible. The CSG GF will be responsible for limited case management to address the needs of children and adults enrolled in groups. The CSG GF will be responsible for completing group and individual data, assessment, and plan (DAP) notes in a timely fashion after services are rendered. Transportation of children and families may be needed on a limited basis and provided by the CSG GF. Organization, time management, creativity, and strong group facilitation skills are necessary in the CSG program. Some evening work hours will be required by the CSG program. Additionally, weekend work may be required on a limited basis.

Qualifications

The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.

Education and/or Experience

Required: High school Diploma,1-2 years' experience in Human Services, Social Work, Education, etc. or Associates in social work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Family Services, or related degree from an accredited university/college.


Preferred: Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Family Services, or related degree from an accredited university/college.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

·        Clear Criminal Records Clearance – required

·        Current Automobile Liability Insurance – required if transporting clients in personal vehicle

·        Valid NM Driver’s license– required if transporting clients in personal vehicle

·        Current First Aid/CPR Certification – required within 6 months of start date

·        Defensive Driver Certificate – required within 6 months of start date

While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works in a classroom environment with a noise level that ranges from moderate to loud and will occasionally work off-site or in an office environment.  Employee will occasionally work in outside weather conditions during recess time or while traveling and/or conducting home visits. Employee will periodically work in potentially dangerous environments including detention facilities, jails, and prisons while fulfilling the requirements of the position. Work hours are considered flexible and employees are expected to periodically work evenings and weekends should agency and/or client needs require. 

 

The employee is required to drive an automobile in order to provide needed crisis intervention, assist clients with needed service acquisition, and perform required responsibilities in the client’s home during non-traditional hours when public or agency transportation is not available.
