Heat Relief Worker
LOCATION: Chandler, AZ
STATUS: 3 Positions available ( 1 FT $14.00/hr & 2 PT $12.50/hr )

The Salvation Army Chandler Corps is looking to fill 3 Heat Relief Worker positions. These are Temporary positions and the successful candidate will be someone who is able to maintain a non judgement attitude, professional approach and boundaries with clients.
The Heat Relief Worker will handle check in of heat relief clients upon arrival using proper record keeping and screening procedures. This position will conduct client baggage checks, removing and storing weapons to be returned upon exit. The HRW will handle signups for shower, laundry and clothing services as well as providing hygiene items and laundry soap. This position will handle set up and takedown of equipment, stocking and restocking supplies and maintaining a clean area.
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, with ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
- Able to maintain a non-judgement attitude, professional approach and boundaries with clients
- Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless and to utilize crisis intervention, crowd management and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to assess at risk participants and situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Successful background clearance
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
