High School Tutor

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Education Coordinator, this position is responsible for the tutoring/assistance of all Cocopah children of High School age.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Tutoring of High School students as needed.

·        Monitor the progress of students by visiting the campus where the students are attending classes.

·        Maintains contact with parents and informs them of their student’s progress, and identifies problem areas.

·        Works with High School Advisor to develop individual tutoring plans to assist the students in correcting problems that may impair or hinder their educational progress.

·        Assists where directed with the Education Department’s summer programs.

·        Prepares and submits reports to the Director and performs other duties as required. 

·        Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

·        Ability to communicate, both orally and in written form, clearly and effectively with students, staff, and parents. 

·        Ability to work independently and possess a solid working knowledge of the educational process. 

·        Knowledge of the Cocopah Tribe/Native American customs.

·        Successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment and ongoing random drug/alcohol testing.

·        Must be able to undergo and pass a BIA/FBI fingerprint background investigation.

QUALIFICATIONS

·        Must meet Tribal vehicle insurance requirements. 

·        Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License.

·        Must be first aid/CPR certified.

·        Must possess a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

·        Associate's degree in a related field or trade school, professional or technical certification, specialized training

·        6-month specialized work experience, 2 years of work experience in a related field, or 2 years of general or supervisory work experience
