HOMEMAKER PROVIDER - PART TIME

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Homemaker Provider, under general supervision, performs general housekeeping, cooking and related

household tasks to aid disabled, convalescent and/or aged eligible adults in maintaining and restoring home life.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Teach and provide home management skills.
• Prepare meals
• General cleaning
• Floor care
• Laundry
• Other miscellaneous duties as specified by the Division for Aging Services in order to provide a safe and

sanitary living environment for the client.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
• Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and other basic emergency medical care techniques and methods.
• Skill in communicating with elderly people.
• Must be able to perform all duties of the position
• Ability to demonstrate maturity of attitude toward work assignments.
• Ability to converse effectively on the telephone
• Ability to work under intermittent supervision
• Ability to deal with minor emergencies arising in connection with assignment.
• Ability to work under stress in a crisis situation
• Ability to identify own limitations with regard to emergencies and crisis; report these to the proper supervisor.
• Ability to understand, respect, and maintain confidentiality in regards to the detail of case circumstances.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written/oral instructions
