Job Description
This is a hybrid position. You will work out of the Phoenix office 2X/week and also be expected to attend all reoccurring quarterly and monthly meetings in person.
OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist provides support and demonstrates knowledge in functional areas of Human Resources including, but not limited to recruitment & staffing, employee relations, performance management, benefits, training & development, and compensation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Supports the implementation and execution of Human Resources policy and procedures for multiple departments and/or functional groups
2.Provides generalist support by absorbing project support for activity within the department which includes employee counseling, policy clarification, recruiting, exit interviews, training & development and benefit administration
3.Seeks and designs process improvements utilizing technological solutions
4.Assists with processing day-to-day paperwork, data entry and coordination with payroll
5.Conducts various regulatory checks, processes and audits, as appropriate to ensure program compliance
6.Provides ongoing career development assistance to employees through counseling and training programs
7.Presents at new hire orientation
8. Provides support for employee related inquires while referring complex and/or sensitive matters to respective departmental staff
9. Attend and assists as witness in employee investigations and disciplinary meetings
10. Partners with Compensation and/or Leadership team to recommend salary ranges, adjustments, structures and revisions to pay practices and policies as needed
11. Facilitates and mediates interventions, assimilations and conflict resolution
12. Provides coaching for leadership on performance management, behavioral issues, corrective actions, policy interpretations, terminations to minimize legal exposure. Ensure employment actions are appropriately documented and consistent with policies and laws. Mentors leaders as applicable
13. Assists with legal responses (EEOC/Unemployment) to minimize unfavorable determinations and related expenses when applicable
14. Provides support for HR leadership when needed and other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will hold a BA/BS in Business, Human Resources, Humanities or related area; or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant human resources experience, with at least two (2) years in full-time Generalist role. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may meet the qualifications for this position. Candidate will hold a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or the ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.
Candidate will have a thorough understanding of Federal and State Employment Law required for assigned states Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, California and other areas upon growth. Candidates assigned to support California must hold and CA HR credential. Additionally, candidate will have working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, diversity, and performance management. PC proficiency with various software including Office 365, compensation and HRIS software. Proficiency with ADP preferred.
Additional Competencies
Effective January 3, 2022, all CPLC Employees and all Service Providers, are required to be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19. Newly hired employees, who are not Fully Vaccinated at the time of hire, are expected to begin a vaccination series immediately upon hire. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requirements: This position is both a mobile and a sedentary position with periods of light physical activity, and is performed mostly in office surroundings. Positions typical in nature require regular walking or standing; sitting, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds; climbing stairs, bending, reaching, holding, grasping and turning objects; and using fingers to operate computer keyboards. This position will require the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.
Travel: Local, interstate and intrastate travel to Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., its affiliates and/or subsidiaries, will be necessary to successfully fulfill the duties of this position. Candidate must have and maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance. Technology will be utilized to minimize travel whenever feasible. The travel requirements for this position are anticipated to be 25 to 35 percent assignment depending. Overnight travel must be approved in advance by the Department VP.
