On a typical day you will:
- Draft forms and letters for visa applications and petitions, applications for permanent residence, labor certification applications, and other immigrant and non-immigrant related filings
- Communicates with clients on matters associated with immigration filings
- Gathers appropriate evidence to support immigration filings
- Conducts quality assurance review of immigration filings
- Maintains computer databases and monitors reports related to caseload management of immigration matters
- Assembles application and petition packages and files with USCIS or other appropriate agency
- Monitors immigration related publications and web sites for news and trends and communicates findings to the practice group keeping important items in electronic files
- Conducts research via internet and hard copy sources of information, keeping important items in electronic files
- Assists in Form I-9 compliance audits
- Drafts client advisories related to significant developments in immigration law and practice
- Accurately and completely records billable time spent and tasks performed in accordance with firm policy and client-imposed billing protocols; enter and release time promptly in compliance with the firms announced deadlines
- 3+ years of experience supporting immigration attorneys
- In-depth knowledge of the basic business non-immigrant visas (H-1B, L-1, E, H-2, TN, B-1, O-1, and P) and employment based immigrant visa processes (EB-1 extraordinary ability, outstanding professor/researcher, multinational manager; EB-2 NIW; EB-2 and EB-3 PERM, and I-485 filings)
- Experience with the following is required: DOL online application systems (PERM and FLAG); DS-160 online visa applications; and consular processing of immigrant petitions through NVC
- Experience working on Form I-9 compliance and audit matters preferred
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft business applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and PDF editing is essential
- Experience using INSZoom immigration case management software
- Spanish or Chinese language proficiency
- Highly developed skills in time and task management with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests with minimal supervision
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills, are detail-oriented, and work with an extremely high degree of accuracy
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, composed manner
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
