Your Career

As a Palo Alto Networks Inside Sales Engineer, you will be the expert for the broader Cortex portfolio supporting our mid-market business. Your portfolio includes Advanced Endpoint Protection via XDR Prevent, Extended Detection and Response via Cortex XDR Pro, security automation and orchestration via Cortex XSOAR, storage and analytics via Cortex Data Lake and attack surface management (ASM) via Cortex Expanse.

You are the "go to" resource for customer interactions that exceed standard SE support requirements. Your role is one of technical mentorship - working with your account manager(s) to build integrated solutions for our clients unique environments. With your colleagues, you will displace competing technologies, and build market share within your targeted list of major accounts, and most importantly, help your customers and prospects achieve a proactive security and risk posture as our product integrates to build secure digital transactions. This position works in a physical Palo Alto Networks office location (once corporately allowed due to CV-19), but instead covers a particular market for our sales prospects.

Your Impact

  • Present to customers as our expert in your area at all levels in the customer hierarchy from technician to manager

  • Lead conversations about industry trends and emerging changes to the security landscape that every customer needs to be aware of and planning to take care of

  • Discuss, with credibility, competitive offers in the marketplace and positions ours as the best alternative

  • Lead and support customer demonstrations that showcase our unique value

  • Interact locally and remotely with customers in an equally persuasive manner

  • Take ownership of advanced 'proof of concept' testing in strategic accounts either at the customer site or Palo Alto Networks lab facilities

  • Provide demos for strategic prospects and current accounts in all facets of Palo Alto Networks virtual offerings and integration in existing data center environments

  • Provide territory coverage within the region when additional resources are required

Qualifications
  • 2 year AS-AA or equivalent technical degree and 1+ years of experience as an SE or systems integrator preferred

  • 2+ years of technical hands-on experience with application security/endpoint security

  • 2+ years of experience in customer facing scenarios preferable sales engineering

  • Stellar communication and presentation skills of technical and business driver topics - both verbally and written

  • Working knowledge of endpoint prevention (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), SIEM, SOC concepts, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), firewalls, and other security technologies both from a technology and a business driver standpoint

  • Experience with common enterprise desktop software deployment methodologies

  • Experience installing, configuring and integrating a complex security environment

  • Experience understanding malware, exploits, operating system structure and behavior

  • Intermediate knowledge of web threats and cybercrime

  • Intermediate understanding of Windows operating systems and scripting. Unix/Linux a plus. Demonstrable experience in securing these environments.

  • Awareness of Incident Response; both IR tools and IR workflow process

  • Strong problem finding and solving skills, ability to analyze problems and use a systematic approach to gain quick resolution

  • Familiar working with Channel partners and understanding of a channel centric go to market approach

  • Experience installing and configuring a virtual environment

  • Minimal travel with the exception of required corporate events
