TITLE: International Baccalaureate Coach (IB)
CLASSIFICATION: Certified REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Teaching & Learning
SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is the oversight and coordination of all IB related activities including teacher training, unit development and reflection, and the MYP Community Project. Through coordination with teachers, administrators, and the IB regional office, the coordinator is responsible for the full delivery of the curriculum including documentation, reporting, analysis, and evaluation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Organize and facilitate implementation of the PYP and MYP for grades K-8
2. Identify and organize PYP/MYP-related professional development opportunities for staff, including workshops, site visits, and curriculum development
3. Lead bi-monthly planning meetings with prep period teams
4. Facilitate PYP/MYP induction process for new teachers
5. Assist teachers in revising and developing units of inquiry
6. Support implementation of PYP/MYP best practices in classrooms through modeling, coteaching and co-planning of lessons and units
7. Encourage an inquiry-based learning environment within the school community
8. Coordinate, monitor, and promote the MYP Community Project
9. Facilitate implementation of effective research-based instructional strategies such as flexible grouping of students, differentiating instruction, inquiry-based teaching, etc.
10. Work collaboratively with building administration.
11. Develop and maintain systems of collaboration related to the implementation of the PYP/MYP within the school
12. Communicate with parents and the wider community regarding the implementation of the PYP/MYP at the school
13. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the principal
EDUCATION:
Masters degree in educaYon preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Arizona Teacher cerYficate
AZ Endorsement Subject Specific
Highly Qualified in core academic subjects
Fingerprint Clearance Card
EXPERIENCE:
Experience with curriculum and assessment.
Experience with coaching teachers and providing specific feedback.
Experience with research-based instrucYonal intervenYons.
Experience with adult learners.
Experience developing and presenYng effecYve professional development.
Experience with data and task analysis
Strong pedagogical knowledge of research-based best pracYces.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
Must have experience with computers and be able to uYlize a variety of soaware including developing PowerPoint presentaYons, spreadsheets, and Excel documents.
Must possess effecYve oral and wriben communicaYon skills. Ability to supervise personnel and ensure program effecYveness.
Must have an ability to work cooperaYvely with staff at all levels including principals, teachers, directors and supervisors.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The working environment is the normal office sedng with travel to a school site.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten-month employee, CerYfied Coach Salary Schedule, employee benefits in accordance with Governing Board policies.
