Interventional Radiologic (IR) Technologist
Position Summary
The IR Technologist performs routine, emergent, interventional radiography procedures in conjunction with under the direction of the Interventional Radiologist, adhering to department protocols on patients of all ages; practices safe radiation dosing for patients including image gently and insure all required QA is completed; maintains a clean and safe workplace.
Responsibilities
Performs routine and emergent Interventional radiography examinations including obtaining and documentation of pertinent patient history, proper use of the EMR, explaining the procedures to the patient, answering the patient's questions, and gaining the patient's written consent.Maintains professional flexibility when confronted with the rigors of on-call and rotational scheduling.
Performs a wide variety of IR Procedures under sterile field environments to meet the demands of the Radiologists.
Uses safe radiation practices according to ARRA regulations and licensing restrictions while using "common sense" approaches to everyday issues, such as reducing dose exposures to neonatal and adolescent patients and considering other risk factors.
Incorporates theoretical knowledge into clinical situations and is able to perform advanced skills, seeks consultation for solutions, referencing policies, procedures, and standards.
Exercises fiscal responsibility by ensuring proper inventory control and prudent uses of existing resources, as defined by the department leadership.

Education Required:
Associate Degree in Radiologic Science or Qualifying Accredited Radiologic Technology Program
Vascular Intervention Radiography (VIR) American Registry Radiologic Technologist
Work Schedule:8-hours, Days, Varied
