Job Description
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for the physical inventory of personal property of a capital nature and the
procedures required for reconciling, updating, and maintaining a computerized inventory of such property for the
Gila River Indian Community (GRIC).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintain a current record of all applicable vehicles and equipment for all departments; maintain close contact
with GRIC Auditors to ensure compliance; maintain property files including acquisition documents.
Input inventory data into the computer for an accurate listing; keep accurate filing system in regard to
department purchase orders, vouchers and supplier pay invoices.
Perform inventory of equipment by physically inspecting equipment inventory and noting difference of serial
and/or model numbers at least once a year.
Procure materials and supplies for the department.
Receive shipment of supplies by verifying shipment against bill of lading, noting any damages or shortages.
Operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
Schedule vehicle/equipment preventive maintenance with other GRIC departments.
Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule for all GRIC vehicles/equipment.
Maintain inventory of parts and supplies on-hand, also recommend purchase of parts and supplies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Knowledge of computer applications.
Knowledge of inventory procedures.
Knowledge of modern office procedures.
Knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods, and practices used with automotive and equipment
maintenance/repair.
Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds for delivery as it pertains to either supplies or capital equipment.
Ability to complete and maintain written records of physical inventory.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
