POSITION DESCRIPTION: IT Manager (Network Operations)

I. General Description:
The IT Manager is responsible for designing, planning and supporting all areas of information
technology/information systems functions including operation, maintenance and upgrade of new
and existing information technology infrastructure. The IT Manager supports the educational
philosophy and objectives of the District and provides leadership in developing, achieving, and
maintaining the best possible educational environment in accordance with the Districts
philosophy and objectives. The IT Manager completes special projects covering a wide variety of
areas as assigned by the Superintendent and the Executive Director of Technology and Support
Services.
II. Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science or related field from an accredited
college/university or equivalent expertise.
2. Must be Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Cleared.
3. Must have training and experience in the use and support of existing network computer
systems, telecommunications and electronic systems.
4. Minimum of five (5) years of experience (combined) in management of computer networks,
information and telecommunications systems.
5. Work experience in primary/secondary education desired.
6. Experience with:
- Microsoft Windows Server & Active Directory Environments
- Google Workspace for Education
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Microsoft Office
- Protocols, including but not limited to, TCP/IP, SMTP, SNMP, ICMP, and HTTP.
- Edulog, Synergy (SIS), Read 180, iBoss and Microsoft SCCM.
7. Planning and administration of Active Directory Services, Group Policy Objects, enterprise
security software (anti-virus, patch management, etc.).
8. Ability to multi-task, be flexible, independent, and anticipate technology needs.
9. Possess excellent communication skills, be professional, proactive, and maintain
confidentiality.
10. Exceptional professional role model.
11. Exercise leadership in the support of the planning, implementation and long-range goals of
the District.
12. Such alternatives to the above as the Governing Board and the Superintendent may find
appropriate and acceptable.
III. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manages, maintains and coordinates technology-based infrastructure, ensuring the effective
delivery and support of those resources to the students, school staff and the community.
2. Assumes general responsibility for providing network-based applications support for network
access, Internet accounts, office automation and other school related needs.
3. Responsible for the maintenance of all network hardware and software. Performs regular
backups of the servers and provides for general hardware and data security. Ensures that
the network is adequate to meet the demands of increasing usage, and develops a growth
path for future expansion.

4. Maintains standards for the network, including user support, a standard user interface,
Internet access and hierarchical user privileges.
5. Combined knowledge of multiple platforms (hardware and software) including, but not limited
to, application development, local area networks, graphic arts, internet-specific solutions and
packaged software to create specific District requirements and standards.
6. Plans and oversees the research, evaluation and integration of new technology systems,
data administration, capacity planning, training and technical support.
7. Automated creation and provisioning of student and staff user accounts with access to
multiple systems and resources.
8. Provides recommendations to senior or executive IT management regarding hardware and
system software planning and budgeting.
9. Maintains and increases professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and
participating in professional development activities.
10. Provides elevated technical support to all department staff.
11. Supports infrastructure for campus telecommunications and special electronic systems such
as security, fire, intercom, energy management, etc.
12. Assist in interviews, screening and recommendation of personnel for employment.
13. Maintains punctual and regular attendance.
14. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues.
15. Provides a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community.
16. Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
