JOB TITLE: JROTC Army Instructor (AI) (NCO)

 

DEPARTMENT: Teaching and Learning - JROTC

 

SALARY SCHEDULE: JROTC

LOCATION: School/Unit Assigned

 

WORK YEAR: 10 Month

SUMMARY: Assists the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) in leading, managing, and implementing the overall JROTC unit program according to US Army Cadet Command (USACC), national, state, and district regulations, policies and standards. Assists assigned SAI/Instructional Leader (IL) in promoting cadet leadership, intellectual development, character education, and physical growth. Responsible for/assists SAI in  implementing the military service's national education curriculum and program requirements to include the preparation, planning, coordination, delivery and supervision of curriculum and co-curricular Service Learning, special activities or events in accordance with USACC Unit Report (Military Ball, Drill Meets, Honor/Color Guards, Parades, Adventure Team, JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl and other co-curricular activities). Assists SAI in property management and budget controls for the unit, the automated cadet record system (JUMS) and reporting for both military and district information.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

1. Presents USACC JROTC national instruction in accordance with lesson plans contained in Cadet Command Instructors Manual/Curriculum Manger V3.

2. Maintains a presence in classroom and outside training areas, promotes a positive and safe learning Environment.

3. Sets the example regarding personal appearance including the wearing of the prescribed uniform and maintains compliance with US Army Cadet Command Height/Weight allowances. 

4. Assists SAI in accountability and proper usage for all US Government and District Property.

5. Assists SAI in proper and timely submission of all required US Army Cadet Command and PXU reports, forms and documentation.

6. Communicates regularly with district and school officials, colleagues, and parents.

7. Demonstrates professional knowledge, engages in PXU professional development activities and connects academic knowledge to real-life situations.

8. Performs other duties as stated in PXU Governing Board policies and/or state statutes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:

  • US Army Senior Non-Commissioned Officer who have separated/retired within the past 5 years with a minimum of 10 years cumulative honorable service in the grade of E-6 through E-9.
  • Associate degree, or complete within five years of hire date.
     

License and Certification Requirements:

  • Possess JROTC Instructor by US Army Cadet Command (Phase 1) Certification.
  • Possess Arizona JROTC Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Grades 9-12 Certificate.
  • Possess Child Care National Agency Check and Inquiry Certification maintained with US Army Cadet Command.
  • Possess National Federation of State High School Associations/Arizona Interscholastic Athletic Association Coaching Certification.
  • Obtain and Maintain PXU vehicle certification.
  • Possess a valid Arizona State Driver's License. 
  • Arizona Standard Secondary Teaching Certificate "Preferred".
