Job Description
The Laborer performs manual work, which does not require a high degree of manipulative or acquired skill or
previous experience. Work is generally performed under immediate direction of a supervisor, but many types of
assigned work may be routine and repetitive in nature and after once learned can be carried on without difficulty
and only under general supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Load and unload trucks of dirt, plant cuttings, refuse and trash in order to maintain a neat and clean appearance
throughout the Community.
Dig trenches and other ditches for maintenance operations to provide areas for pipes to be placed and
maintained using shovels and trenchers under the direction of a supervisor.
Operate small powered hand tools.
Assist form setter in building forms for concrete structures; replace or repair walls, ceilings and floors; repair
kitchen sinks and bathroom plumbing needs.
Replace or repair windows and doors (interior and exterior); remove old roofing materials and replace with
new materials, rolled roofing and shingles; replace insulation in walls and ceilings.
Paint or spray walls, doors, windows, and other areas as needed; stucco exterior walls; build or replace
fencing.
Perform custodial duties, washes and cleans vehicles.
May be required to operate a gas driven tamper or whacker; may be required to operate air driven tools such
as a jackhammer or other pneumatic tools.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Knowledgeable in the operation of common hand tools, such as hammer, sledge, pick shovel, axe and crosscut
saw.
Knowledgeable in the operation of powered hand tools.
