LAND SURVEYOR IN TRAINING
Job Description
The Land Surveyor in Training is responsible for the receipt and processing of the survey data generated by the
survey field crews. Calculations and analysis of the survey data with regards to the cadastral monumentation and
the subsequent proportioning and determination of boundaries are completed and the projects are prepared for
assignment to the Survey CAD Technicians for generation of the survey plat or drawing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for the technical oversight of engineering surveys.
Plan, develop, coordinate and direct a number of highly diversified and complex survey operations in
conjunction with engineering investigations associated with the design, construction, operation and
monitoring projects within the Gila River Indian Community.
Coordinate the survey program according to the Land Use Planning and Zoning flag dates, schedule and revise
survey programs to meet changes in priorities, budgetary funding, manpower availability and time
requirements.
Assist directing and supervising land surveyors in the restoration of original surveys and boundaries and the
establishment of new boundaries and property lines.
Plan, review and evaluate geodetic surveying programs utilizing Global Positioning Systems (G.P.S) satellite
surveying technologies and applied knowledge of geodetic G.P.S.
Assist in supervising chief of parties or survey technicians who are responsible for analyzing and evaluating
survey data, maintaining database, editing and transferring CAD drawings, plots and graphs by electronic
methods.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
