  • DEFINITION: Under basic supervision, provides District staff with integration services and technical support for the wide area and local area network communications systems. Serves as a technical lead to other I/T technicians, analysts and specialists and to perform systems trouble shooting and configuration of network hardware, operating systems software, and applications software.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    TASKS:
    Manages all VDI users and servers; checks that all servers are online and operational; assists all technicians with needs or issues; oversees copier and printer reservations and implementations; repairs laptop and desktop computers; manages work orders; create images for all Windows devices; configures CISCO switches and phones at all District schools; replaces equipment as needed; manages helpdesk; enters helpdesk tickets and answers phone calls.

    Provides District staff with integration services and technical support; performs systems trouble shooting and configuration of network hardware, operating systems software, and applications software; acts as lead to other IT technicians, analysts, and specialists; performs other duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
    Knowledge of the following operating systems: Windows at the policy level in a network environment, DOS.
    Knowledge of Help Desk procedures and with taking trouble calls from end users.
    Knowledge of fundamental trouble shooting, down to the module level, including understanding port interrupts and memory addressing.
    Knowledge of CPU architectures CISC, RISC and 68000 series at the modular level.
    Knowledge of how to implement network distributed multimedia (Voice, Video, and Data) hardware and software.
    Knowledge of District and Department policies and procedures.
    Skill in directing and providing technical leadership to other District technicians, analysts, specialists and Technology Coaches.
    Skill in performing technical configurations for computer networks.
    Skill in installing and supporting Peripherals: Network FAX servers, Modems, Print Servers, Printers (Laser, Ink Jet, and Dot Matrix) and CD-ROM Tower technology.
    Skill in topology and cabling configuration.
    Skill in working with the following industry standards IEEE: 802.2, 802.3 (10BaseT and 100BaseT Fast Ethernet), and with Ethernet II, SNAP, FDDI over copper and/or fiber
    Skill in network implementation, configuration, and support.
    Skill in applications software installation, configuration and support of WEB Servers and Browsers.
    Skill in installing, configuring and supporting 3COMs and Transcend SNMP management across WAN Connectivity Components.
    Skill in installing, configuration and support (Preferred).
    Skill in Spread Spectrum Radio Installation, Configuration, and Support.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor and lifting up to 25 pounds.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    High school diploma or equivalent.
    Three (3) years of experience technical experience with some supervisory duties, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer or Microsoft Applications Product Specialist preferred.
    Novell Certified Novell Engineer or Master Certified Novell Engineer Certification preferred.
    3COM or Cisco Certification preferred.
    Valid Arizona Drivers License.

    Salary Grade: N Hourly Pay: $22.15 Hours per Day: 8 Days in Contract: 260 Start Date: 2024/2025 School Year
