Job Description

Key Purpose


The Learning and Development Specialist plays a crucial role in assessing developmental needs, driving training initiatives, and evaluating the effectiveness through performance metrics. This role requires a deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training delivery techniques to support the teams goals.


The Learning and Development Specialist ensures alignment with strategic business objectives and maintains high quality standards in instructional design and development for all methods of program delivery.

Key Areas of Collaboration and Influence


  • Report to the account Senior Strategic HR Business Partner
  • Work in close partnership with Learning & Development colleagues, the People & Culture Team, Operations, and Senior Leadership
  • Freely utilize and share best practices to drive increased effectiveness and performance


Ideal Candidate Experience


  • Familiarity with best practices surrounding adult learning and instructional designs
  • 2-5 years of experience in learning and development
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating interactive and impactful development programs and learning journeys.
  • Measuring and evaluating impact experience
  • Must be proficient with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office


Key Accountabilities


  • Identify learning needs
  • Collaborate with People & Culture team members and business leaders to understand their needs related to training and development
  • Conduct assessments and analyses to define performance, skill and knowledge gaps
  • Create training calendar that is inclusive of all disciplines training
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness
  • Utilize metrics to validate knowledge transfer and return on investment
  • Establish and maintain individual and organizational performance evaluation methods for training content, delivery, activities, engagement, and outcomes
  • Monitor key performance indicators and metrics to track the success of learning initiatives and their alignment with organizational goals
  • Support learning initiatives
  • Assist with data upkeep in the learning management system platforms to validate the rollout and completion of trainings
  • Remain updated on industry trends and best practices in learning and development
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of a comprehensive training strategy ensuring strategic alignment of training and development with business goals
  • Partner with internal communications team to develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for training and development programs


Physical Demands & Work Environment


  • Requires constant sitting for long periods of time
  • Requires ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Requires ability to travel onsite to perform the essential job functions minimum of 33%
  • Requires ability to move freely about the office building
  • Requires ability to lift/move/carry up to 25 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions


ISS offers full time employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, as well as a comprehensive leave program based on employment status. The annual salary range for this position is $70000 per year - $80000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
