Definition

Definition: Under general supervision from the Fixed Asset/Warehouse Supervisor, the Mailroom Clerk is responsible for ensuring the efficient and organized operation of the mailroom. Handles, sorts, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and documents. Performs printing services. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. This position is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt. This is a driving position.

Examples of Tasks

1. Mailroom
  • Process Weekly and Quarterly bulk mail outs.
  • Process and date stamp all incoming mail using the meter machine.
  • Maintain an inventory on envelopes and paper stock.
  • Keep mailroom shelves adequately stocked with operating supplies.
  • Perform the daily Two Waters complex mail delivery.
  • Restock the copier located in the Finance Copy Room with toner and paper as needed.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and cleaning on mailroom/copy room copiers, NeoPost mail processing equipment, and shredder.
  • Provide general mailroom coverage while mail clerk delivers the daily mail to outside locations.
2. Warehouse
  • Enter incoming deliveries into the Receiving Log.
  • Stage incoming orders for receipt processing.
  • Assist with general warehouse projects as assigned.
  • Deliver packages to departments.
  • Perform general warehouse cleaning as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of the history, culture, laws, customs, and traditions of the SRPMIC.
  • Knowledge of issuing manuals and automated systems.
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety requirements and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of mailroom and warehouse recordkeeping, inventory management, and documentation practices, including use of specialized computer systems.
  • Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and staff at all levels.
  • Skill with verbal and written communication, numbers, recordkeeping.
  • Skill using personal computer and related software.
  • Skill with eye/hand coordination sufficient to operate equipment safely and to perform the essential functions of the position.

  • Ability to perform a variety of mailroom and warehouse related clerical work.
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards and to use all equipment appropriately.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds when loading, unloading and stocking supplies.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time performing activities that require stooping, reaching, lifting, pulling, crawling, and carrying items of 25 pounds or more.
  • Ability to climb ladders to stock shelves, etc.


Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • At least 1 year experience in a mailroom or an office clerical role is preferred.
  • 1 year full-time experience in warehousing, inventory, or stocking-related activity is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a post-high school training program in inventory management, warehousing, or stocking-related curriculum may be substituted for 6 months of the required 1 year experience.

Equivalency
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.


Underfill Eligibility
  • An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill.


Special Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License.
