Job Description

THIS POSITION IS FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR.

JOB GOAL:

To supervise and instruct students on all functions and aspects of using the library.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or GED
  2. Knowledge of library operations and terminology.
  3. Experience with library record keeping, book repair, and library technology, including circulation software.
  4. Experience using Microsoft Office products, including the creation of documents for library operations.
  5. Effective communication skills, especially as a liaison with staff and in dealing with classes in the Library.
  6. Must pass a fingerprint and background clearance.
  7. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., be able to exert 25 –30 lbs. of force frequently, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  8. Ability to walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, and to sit for long periods of time.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, and community.
  2. Circulate materials to students and staff.
  3. Purchase and Process new materials and maintain the collection.
  4. Maintain and update shelves as needed, including daily shelving.
  5. Track and collect fines for lost or damaged materials.
  6. Repair materials as needed.
  7. Train staff and volunteers in use of library equipment.
  8. Distribute and track the use of equipment to staff as necessary.
  9. Implement at least one Book Fair per school year.
  10. Track and circulate all textbooks.
  11. Instruct classes in library usage, research, literature, etc.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms, stand, bend, kneel or stoop sometimes for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to move about the campuses and to drive to the schools and departments in the District. The employee must regularly lift, push, pull and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  10 month Full-time

COMPENSATION:  Classified Salary Schedule, Salary Grade Level: Letter F

BENEFITS:  As per District policy

REPORTS TO:  Principal

EVALUATION:  Initial evaluation to be completed no later than ninety (90) days after first day of work; thereafter, annually by supervisor.

HOURS:  40 hours per week

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly
