Job Description
Media Relations Manager
Compensation: $60-$65K (DOE/MAX)
Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a non-profit organization and one of the largest Hispanic Community Development Corporations in the United States. The organization began with a group of student and community activists in 1967 and was incorporated and received non-profit status in 1969. CPLC is committed to empowering individuals through health & human services, housing, education, and economic development.

Reports to and is supervised by the Vice President of Public Relations
Effective January 3, 2022, all CPLC Employees and all Service Providers, are required to be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19. Newly hired employees, who are not Fully Vaccinated at the time of hire, are expected to begin a vaccination series immediately upon hire. CPLC recognizes medical and religious exemptions to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement, in accordance with applicable law and upon approval by CPLC. However, any person approved for an exemption, without exception, is subject to masking.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to secure media coverage and promote programs, services, and corporate initiatives to help advance CPLC's mission.
- Develop and implement proactive, creative, and engaging media strategies that deliver measurable results.
- Build and strengthen relationships with media and influencers across a range of categories and ecosystems in multiple states.
- Identify potential stories to maximize CPLC positive presence on news sites, industry blogs, and social media.
- Coordinate scheduled and unplanned interviews, develop talking points and coach staff/clients for the interviews in English and Spanish.
- Create content and opportunity to secure placement in multiple markets at a time.
- Leverage social media to gain insights into trends and the point of view of journalists and influencers to help amplify news stories and promote compelling content.
- Monitor traditional and digital media and assist in managing crisis communications.
- Maintain media contact databases and create media reports.
- Design and implement PR plans and strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in PR, journalism, communications, digital media, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of work experience in media relations.
- Proven track record in traditional and digital media outreach; including use of social media.
- Strong relationships with English and Spanish media.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and to work independently.
- Proficiency with media monitoring platforms, databases, and reporting systems.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to navigate a business environment and collaborate in team setting to meet deadlines.
- Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews; must be a confident communicator and presenter.
- Spanish fluency preferred.
