Meter Specialist - Fortiline

The overall responsibility of this position is to sell meters, metering systems, and to aid existing sales force in the same. The person is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and closing potential metering opportunities across Alabama or Mississippi. The person will report directly to the GM of the Municipal Group, and will have constant interaction with meter manufacturers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Work closely with GM, Regional Sales Manager, Estimators, Branch Manager, Outside Sales and Inside Sales to ensure a smooth Bid Delivery process
Be thoroughly aware of all upcoming bids; maintain close communication on pending bids with customers, engineers and owners in addition to utilizing various Construction Data Services
Through frequent municipal utility and engineering visits , develop a close personal relationship with all accounts
Have a strong understanding of municipal and project specifications.
Have a strong understanding of metering, AMR, AMI for exclusive manufacturers as well as competitive metering products and companies. 
Partner with vendors to visit with engineers and municipalities to be sure they understand the benefits of the products we sell
Manage all bids to ensure Fortiline quotations are well organized, thorough, meet specifications and are price competitive
Maintain continuing education to stay on the cutting edge of metering technology
Work with meter manufacturers to secure exclusivity in any given territory
Work closely with vendors to ensure we are receiving the best pricing and customer service
Oversee metering sales in Alabama or Mississippi.
Coordinate regular travel with existing sales force to train, pursue, and ultimately close projects
Ensure proper and effective verbal and phone communication with customers. Acknowledgement of orders, monthly project summaries and project delivery status
Respond quickly to Branch Manager on edit list issues for pricing and cost
Keep order backlog and quote front log updated and accurate in Mincron
Play an active role in securing quick payment on all invoices.  Coordinate and respond to the Credit department on all payment issues
Present a professional image at all times to customers and vendors
Perform other related duties as assigned
General computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word)
A working knowledge of Mincron - Bid entry, pricing and order management
Able to perform takeoffs on all metering projects

Experience/Skills/Abilities:

Effective oral and written communications skills
Must have effective organizational skills - including strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Works well in a team environment
Management, leadership, customer service skills
Time management - understand how to prioritize and complete work within the specified timeframe
Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word
Solid relationship building skills

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Often travel to constructions sites requiring the use of safety equipment
When in the office, typical office environment - moderate noise level 
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
Some overnight travel may be required

Education:

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Some college plus work experience will be considered
