This is a commission based position so with hourly rate and commission, earning potential could be $84,000+/annually

OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY

Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for assisting borrowers to navigate the application, approval and closing process. Conduct pre-qualification and services to originate pre-approval or full application loans as appropriate for prospective homebuyers. Market products and services to consumers and business partners and generate sufficient loans to meet strategic funding goals as well as annual production goals for all lending programs.

Licenses, Certifications:

Maintain valid Arizona MLO License, meet required registration process which includes a satisfactory criminal background and credit report. Not listed on the US General Services Administration (GSA/SAM) Excluded list or the HUD's Limited Denial of Participation List (LDP list).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Market available loan products / services to customers, real estate professionals, financial entities, and community-based businesses to enhance their awareness of available lending products. Perform a mix of activities including public presentations, educational workshops, informational kiosks and displays, and individual networking. Provide general information about loan products/programs in response to inquiries and referrals.
  • Originate loans for all programs using the selected Loan Origination System. Have schedule flexibility to be available for off hour appointments and interviews with customers and business partners. Take the loan application and evaluate the customer's eligibility for specific loan products.
  • Collects data from applicants, reviews documentation and verifies information for accuracy. Submit complete loan application packages to appropriate staff member in accordance with internal submission guidelines. Remains aware of loan application deadlines and maintains customer informed of loan status for a timely closing.
  • Develop and maintain referral networks relationships with outside entities that provide leads and access to potential borrowers for loan products/programs.
  • Pre-qualify referral partners' potential homebuyers; assess their readiness for home ownership and refer them to internal counseling and education programs if appropriate.
  • Serve as the liaison for the loan customer throughout the application process. Monitor the progress of the loan application, communicating as necessary with relevant staff members, investors, and vendors. Serve as an advocate for the loan customer collecting data and participating in problem-solving as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of updated guidelines for loan programs offered, as well as current lending industry standards and regulatory requirements for loan origination.
  • Operates in compliance with laws and regulations and adhere to lending compliance guidelines. Maintain required job skills and core professional competencies including licensing, continuing education, and examination requirements, if applicable. Attend and participate in required educational programs and staff training sessions.
  • Maintain and update reports for management.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

1. Education /Background :
  • 2 years of college and 2 years mortgage lending, customer service or outside sales experience preferred; High school diploma or equivalent and 3 + years mortgage loan origination and customer service experience acceptable.

  • Knowledge of loan products and programs and compliance requirements for all loan programs, Conventional Conforming, Non-Confirming and Government.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a goal-oriented environment, provide friendly and courteous customer service.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize workload, meet deadlines, build trust relationships and customer loyalty.
  • Able to service a multi-cultural customer base; explain product benefits in detail and perform within established timelines.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule (evening & weekend hours) to meet customers and vendors.
  • Ability to work in high stress, sales environment.
  • Spanish/English bilingual preferred but not required.

  • 3. Technology:
  • Ability to learn and use database software, automated underwriting platforms, Loan Origination Systems and other specialty software as needed.

  • 4. Other requirements :

    Effective January 3, 2022, all CPLC Employees and all Service Providers, are required to be Fully Vaccinated against COVID-19.     PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

    Position requirements: This position is both a mobile and a sedentary position with periods of light physical activity, and is performed mostly in office surroundings. Positions typical in nature require regular walking or standing; sitting, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds; climbing stairs, bending, reaching, holding, grasping and turning objects; and using fingers to operate computer keyboards. This position will require the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.

    Travel: Local, interstate and intrastate travel to Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc., its affiliates and/or subsidiaries, will be necessary to successfully fulfill the duties of this position. Candidate must have and maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance. Technology will be utilized to minimize travel whenever feasible. The travel requirements for this position are anticipated to be 25 to 35 percent assignment depending. Overnight travel must be approved in advance by the Department VP.

    REMOTE: Position will be performed remotely however, employee must be available to participate in campus, community-based and corporate activities, as needed.
