DEFINITION: The tutor is a master teacher who works specifically with students who require intensive intervention in grade 3. The goal of the tutor is to effectively close the gap in reading to ensure students attain grade level competencies as quickly as possible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Facilitate tech-assisted intervention programs, and teacher directed literacy curriculum.
Analyze student data to inform targeted 1:1 or smaller group interventions.
Attend regular professional development and/or collaboration as needed for position.
Maintain daily attendance records.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Deep understanding of English Language Arts concepts, misconceptions and multiple approaches/models for teaching a concept.
Excellent oral communication skills
Commitment to the full tutoring cycle
Highly effective classroom management in a 1:1 computing environment
Experience and rapport with high risk student populations
Exceptional Interpersonal Skills
Experience with data analysis
Considerable knowledge of technology
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent walking and standing. Work may involve lifting and carrying objects weighing as much as 50 pounds. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions and infectious diseases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Valid Arizona Elementary teaching certification & IVP Card
Preference will be given to teachers with a valid reading endorsement and Early Childhood endorsement.
