Job Description

Provides medical care and treatment to patients in areas such as a student health center, health clinics and/or a research study.

 

Salary Range

$102,000 - $110,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

·       Determines and formulates health histories and performs physical examinations.

·       Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems.

·       Determines and manages minor and/or acute illnesses and initiates symptomatic treatment.

·       Conducts initial care for emergency situations such as illness or injury and initiates arrangements for continuing care.

·       Conducts on-going health care and clinical management of stable, chronically ill patients.

·       Maintains an on-going health education program with the assistance and guidance of a health educator.

·       Conducts informative educational sessions during patient visit to ensure understanding by the patient of their condition and treatment.

·       Collaborates with other health care team personnel in regards to client treatment.

·       Prescribes medication or other forms of treatment.

·       Documents medical records of client encounters.

·       Refers patients to outside medical and support service facilities.

·       Participates in research studies which includes recruiting and screening potential participants, determining whether eligibility criteria has been met and completing required forms for each study.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s degree with a major in Nursing from a State Board of Nursing approved school of nursing with satisfactory completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program AND currently licensed to practice nursing in the State of Arizona AND certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing. Effective January 1, 2001, The State Board of Nursing requires a minimum qualification of a Master’s degree in a health-related area and after November 13,2005 minimum qualification of a Master’s degree in Nursing. A registered Nurse Practitioner who is Board Certified before January 1, 2001 and in good standing with a current license to practice shall continue to meet the minimum qualifications. Maintains a valid AZ driver’s license.

·       Experience in primary care or applicable specialty.

·       Two (2) years clinical experience in a primary care setting.

·       Experience working in a college health setting.

·       Contribute to the mission of providing affirming and inclusive services to promote well-being and advance health equity for diverse communities and all those seeking compassionate care.

·       Experience working or desire to work with gender-affirming care.

·       Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems.

·       Evidence of effective communication skills.

·       Evidence of leadership, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

·       Must possess traits of punctuality, organizational skills, and ability to function within a team.

 

Working Environment

·       Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%);

·       Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).

·       Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%).

·       Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

·       Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

·       Although the majority of the work will occur at our Tempe facilities during the academic year, the practitioner should have some flexibility to be able to serve our students on our other campus locations as needed.

·       Position requires to wear a respirator.

·       Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

·       Position has specific vaccination requirements, such as MMR, hepatitisB, Polio or tetanus.
