Outside Sales HDPE - Fortiline


Drive company revenue and profitability by selling waterworks products to specific accounts on public, private, municipal and industrial projects in accordance with established sales goals.

Job Expectations


  • Sales
    • Work closely with Regional Sales Manager, Estimators, Branch Manager and Inside Sales to ensure a smooth Bid Delivery process
    • Manage all bids to ensure quotations are well organized, thorough, meet specifications and are price competitive
    • Perform takeoffs on all pipeline and pump station projects
    • Coordinate with Regional Sales Manager, Branch Manager and Inside Sales team to ensure a smooth transition of orders from bid phase through final product deliveries, including managing resources and coordinating efforts of team members and customers to deliver product packages according to expectations
    • Be thoroughly aware of all upcoming bids; maintain close communication on pending bids with customers, engineers and owners in addition to utilizing various Construction Data Services
    • Oversee all facets of Inside Sales to verify submittals, CAD Drawings and materials are flowing efficiently and accurately to customers
    • Acknowledgement of orders, monthly project summaries and project delivery status
    • Respond quickly to Branch Manager on edit list issues for pricing and cost
    • Keep order backlog and quote front log updated and accurate in ERP system
    • Successfully complete all assigned training within given timeframe
  • Customer Focus
    • Develop strong relationships with customers by providing professional representation and assistance in all areas to improve customers profits. Engage with customers through frequent customer office/job site visits
    • Work with customers to secure timely and accurate payment on all invoices. Coordinate with and respond to the Credit department on all payment issues
  • Communication
    • Attend and participate in all scheduled events, including sales meetings, training classes and other business-related gatherings, both during and outside of working hours
    • Shares market and competitor information with all applicable channels within the organization and establishes relationships and working partnerships with all levels
  • Vendor Relations
    • Partner with vendors to visit with engineers and municipalities ensure a clear understanding of the benefits of company-supplied products
    • Work closely with vendors to ensure we are receiving the best pricing and customer service
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Distribution, Engineering or other related discipline preferred. A combination of education and greater than 10 years direct experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree
  • Minimum of 5 -7 years experience in a waterworks industry sales role


  • Must have a strong understanding of municipal and project specifications
  • Must be self-motivated, including high attention to detail with ability to focus and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Excel and Word; previous experience with an ERP system (ie. Eclipse, Mincron) is an asset
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required
  • Must have excellent selling skills with the ability to sell product to a wide range of customers both in-person and by phone
  • Must be able to work positively within a team environment
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently identify solutions
  • Must present a professional image at all times to customers and vendors
  • Must have a valid drivers license and good driving record
