Valleywise Health is looking for someone that is passionate about making a real difference in patient safety and well-being. Under the guidance of our Nurse Manager and the Nursing team, the Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, attentive care to pediatric through geriatric patients who require close monitoring and support.
As a key member of our Internal Resource Pool, youll have the unique opportunity to float across a variety of units gaining valuable experience and making an impact wherever you're needed most. You'll remain at the bedside of your assigned patient, ensuring their safety and comfort, while serving as an essential link between the patient, their family, and the care team.
In this role, you will:
- Provide one-on-one observation to patients at risk, including those who are suicidal, under administrative holds, cognitively impaired, impulsive, or unsteady\
- Promptly communicate changes in patient behavior or condition to nursing staff
- Document observations clearly and accurately
- Assist licensed nurses with delegated care tasks
- Help maintain a calm, secure, and supportive environment for patients in need

Hourly Pay Rate: $16.00
The night shift pay differential will be paid at 18% of the employee's base rate of pay. The weekend shift pay differential will be paid at 8% of the employee's base rate of pay.
Qualifications
Education:
- Prefers a High school diploma or GED certificate.
Experience:
- Prefer prior experience as a patient safety attendant in a hospital, nursing home or home care setting to medical or behavioral needs patients.
- Prefer one (1) year of hospital experience as a patient care assistant or patient safety attendant.
Specialized Training:
- Must successfully complete an approved Valleywise Health computer classes.
- Must successfully complete EVE training within 6 months.
Certification/Licensure:
- A BLS card obtained through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center and will be required within 3 months.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bilingual is preferred.
- Must have ability to work with culturally diverse people. Requires excellent communication, time management and leadership skills.
- Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
