Position Description
Champions a values based culture to promote unit effectiveness. Directs and supervises Patient Services staff in the processing of patients. Supervises scheduling of appointments, patient visits, the receiving of patients, and the maintenance of records; supervises processing of charges for clinic services, filing of insurance claims, responses to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and the maintenance of related information for the department. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Most work is performed according to established procedures; problems of an unusual nature are referred to supervisor.

Major/Essential Functions
Serves as a Team member of the TTUHSC SON Combest Wellness Center. Champions a values based culture to promote unit effectiveness. Team member will directly assist the Clinic Dept. Administrator with daily clinic operations and clinic flow to include:
- Directs and supervises front office Patient Services Specialist (PSS) staff in the processing of patients.
- Provides training to front office staff and tracks training status.
- Supervises scheduling of appointments, patient visits, the receiving of patients, and the maintenance of records.
- Supervises processing of charges for clinic services, filing of insurance claims, responds to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and the maintenance of related information for the department.
- Completes verification of third party payers.
- Oversees cash handling in adherence to the organization and department policies and procedures.
- Maintain PSS staff schedule with regard to clinic and staff needs.
- Maintains patient schedules within the clinic guidelines and policies.
- Demonstrates and promotes a professional environment in the front office and when representing the organization.
- Supervises the call center staff.
- Generates reports requested by administration.
- Practices strategies for effective communication.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Two years in a supervisory role
- Experience working in an ambulatory clinic
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Centricity and Cerner PowerChart usage
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written
- Ability to function in a busy environment and make sound decisions
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of five (5) years of customer service experience of which two (2) years are in an of supervisory role. Experience in a clinic or physician's office preferred. OR At least three (3) years of experience at TTUHSC in the Patient Services Program, one (1) year of supervisory experience.
