Payroll Specialist

General Description of Duties:

• Provide support to the Payroll department under general supervision
• Perform a variety of routine payroll duties involved in preparation and processing
• Learn all aspects of client and/or staff payroll processes
• Assist in entering and reviewing new employees in automated payroll software
• Enter and file time sheets, and review for accuracy
• Maintain automated and manual payroll files, as well as client files
• Respond to general inquiries regarding payroll information (e.g., PTO balances, rates of pay, annual earnings)
• Assist in compiling various payroll reports
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prefer advanced accounting coursework
• One (1) year experience working in a business office atmosphere required
• One (1) year high volume (300 employees) in-house payroll experience preferred
• Solid mathematical skills necessary
• Advanced computer literacy required, including proficiency in various Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and general clerical duties
• Ability to work with and meet firm deadlines for completion of assigned duties with strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively communicate in English with internal and external customers of Adelante
• Ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms effectively
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors, and co-workers

Other Requirements: Must pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM drivers license, and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation, and proof of current liability insurance. Must be able sit, perform keyboarding functions, and utilize a calculator continually. Must be able to stand, walk, bend stoop, and reach above shoulders frequently. May be required to visit various locations, in order to carry out the essential job duties.

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: From $17.00 - $20.00 per hour ($35-42k annually), negotiable based on tenure and experience.
