DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Payroll Technician performs analytical, detail-oriented work regarding the payroll functions, and assists the
Payroll Manager in various projects of the Gila River Indian Community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Process and distribute voluntary deduction report by code; issue payments related to these reports on a
biweekly basis.
0 Assist with conducting new employee orientation.
0 Download regular and cumulative payroll ?les after the transmission of each payroll run.
0 Input hours, retroactive pay, sick pay, and annual pay during the processing of payroll and transmit payroll
by deadline to the outsourced company utilized for payroll.o Responsible for the review and payment of quarterly reports for workers compensation, ensure workerscompensation reports are ?led correctly and timely.Research and analyze various payroll situations as they arise.Conduct payroll audits on departments.Perform regular backup on payroll updates after each payroll has been transmitted.Process manual checks and maintain a detailed log of all manual checks processed.Maintain a log on all payroll changes such as direct deposit, tax and miscellaneous payroll changes.Comply with the Gila River Indian Community policies and procedures as they pertain to the Payroll.Responsible for enforcing compliance with the Gila River Indian Community personnel policies andprocedures as they pertain to payroll and the Gila River Indian Community.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:0 Knowledge of the English language, spelling, and arithmetic skills.
0 Knowledge of lO-key and operation of standard of?ce equipment.
0 Knowledge of payroll laws which pertain to Gila River Indian Community.Ability to follow up and complete projects in a timely manner.Ability to exhibit good organizational, interpersonal, writing and communications skills to interpret reports.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Of?cials
and the general public.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position, agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years experience in Accounting or a minimum of two
(2) years of on the job training.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required to pass a background check.Required to obtain a Tribal Operator’s permit. Valid state driver’s license with a current proof of driving record
for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be
submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
