Position DescriptionThe Town of Marana is seeking a Permit Technician to work in the Development Services Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in collaborating with a team, assisting the public and community. This position is critical to the day to day operations. The ideal candidate will process and distribute submittals for plan review and will track project information. Must be able to work constructively and collaboratively.
Expected Hiring Range: $20.65 - $25.30 per hour
Salary Range: $20.65 - $29.94 per hour
- Placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget

- Provides customers with information including submittal requirements, fees, process and status.
- Corresponds and coordinates information with various professional disciplines, home owners, contractors, Town Staff and outside agencies using various methods.
- Provide quality customer service through answering phones, responding to emails and in person counter interactions.
- Processes electronic submittals and approvals; provides guidance to customers on how to utilize the electronic services.
- Assists with scheduling inspections and providing office support to field inspectors.
- Responds to public records requests and assists with records retention for the department.
- Monitors and maintains application data, electronic and paper files.
- Monitors application status and ensures review deadlines are met.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
- Over one year of customer service experience in a professional office environment or related field
An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- ICC Permit Technician Certification or must obtain within one year of employment
- Ability to pass the Town of Marana background check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- ICC Permit Technician Certification
- Experience with permitting software
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
