Production Skills Trainer I

General Description of Duties:

The primary duty of this position is to provide direct services to disabled adults with significant behavior and training needs. Other duties include but are not limited to:

• Works one-on-one directly with disabled adults to facilitate their success, by giving them hands-on training to improve methods and techniques in all skill areas, including activities of daily living and vocational training.
• Participates in the assessment of the progress assigned associates are making towards independence in their job or daily lives.
• Assists clients during breaks, lunch, morning and afternoon bus duty.
• Learns agency standards and becomes familiar with the population being served along with the individual specific programs and goals.
• Completes and submits all required documentation including but not limited to narratives in a timely manner and communicates results and/or problems to supervisor and/or other senior staff.
• Works within an interdisciplinary team format to accomplish client individual specific goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Training:

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required with post high school.
• Two (2) years general work experience.
• Experience working with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with internal and external customers of Adelante.
• Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures, give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms, and effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors, and co-workers.

Other Requirements: Must pass TB test, drug screening, and background check (Mandatory fingerprinting and screening by State of NM and FBI). Must have reliable transportation, valid NM drivers license, insurable driving record and proof of current liability insurance. Must have effective verbal communication and writing skills. Must be able to stand for long intervals of several hours throughout the day. Must be able to lift 50 lbs as well as support 70-100 lbs. occasionally. Adelante is a drug free workplace.
