Job Description

The School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering seeks a highly motivated and dynamic Project Coordinator to facilitate the planning and coordination of activities for a new research center that will be focusing in the areas of semiconductor and microelectronics engineering.  The Project Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with the center Director, center Principal Investigators (PIs), Research team, and other stakeholders to direct, organize, and execute against project requirements; identify and acquire necessary resources and coordinates efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with sponsoring source's expectations. Additional tasks may include assisting in the operation of the center, coordinating events and meetings, processing trip requests and post-travel expenses, assisting the center director, center faculty, and research staff at ASU with various tasks related to meetings, events, and performing various administrative services.

 

This position requires initiative, independent judgment, and working independently under general direction.

 

Salary Range

$44,950 - $62,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

·       Plans, develops, implements, and manages a project team through complete task definitions and work requirement identification and assignments.

·       Works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders on project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes; identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcome(s).

·       Establishes and continually monitors project expectations with team; assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness.

·       May assist with coordination and planning of meetings and special events: preparing notices, agendas and supporting documentation as needed, as well as managing space reservations.

·       Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes.

·       Interacts and maintains liaison with students, faculty, staff, other university departments, and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.

·       Oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of program; determines priorities. Fosters team effectiveness by acting to develop an environment that promotes the effectiveness and morale of the team.

·       Prepares all post-project reports, budget allocations and summaries/filings to ensure timely dissemination of information to all interested parties.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

·       Experience in coordinating project activities and execution of projects.

·       Evidence of effective communication skills.

·       Demonstrated knowledge of project management applications/software for use in effective project management. 

·       Experience in identifying opportunities for use of solutions to improve efficiency and reduce errors.

·       Experience in developing and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships among all project team members.

·       Experience in identify trends, anticipate and respond to project risks and results.

·       Experience in documenting activities and tracking progress to share with stakeholders through quarterly meetings.

·       Experience in preparing, reviewing, and summarizing project budgets (written and verbal).

·       Experience in preparing project related progress reports.

·       Ability to engage in a culture of collaboration with all partnering unit and within the department. 

·       Evidence of a CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)

·       Evidence of PMP (Project Management Professional) and/or PgMP (Program Management Professional)

 

Working Environment

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
