Project Manager II
Job Description
Under general supervision, the Project Manager II is responsible for managing, reporting and coordinating activities and resources in support of a variety of projects at LBRI.
The Project Manager II will work with Scientists and other business units/leaders in the development of proposals, budgets and estimates for completion as well as establish track and monitor project schedules, deliverables and milestones. Will be responsible for analyzing financials to ensure that project goals are accomplished on time and on budget. Individual will communicate with sponsors, Scientists and Accounting and Finance personnel on project schedules, project and financial status including estimates to complete and deliverables, and performing all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Requires a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related field and 5-10 years of demonstrated project management experience in a biomedical research environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI is strongly preferred and is required to be achieved within 1 year from date of employment.
Excellent knowledge and experience in project scheduling, control, reading, interpreting, forecasting and analyzing financials. Candidate must have knowledge and understanding of the operational, logistical, financial and administrative requirements of laboratory and research studies. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and financial reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
Must have superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills; a high degree of professionalism, excellent judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of professionals. Demonstrated ability in managing a wide variety of complex tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting multiple deadlines is required. Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project or equivalent and must have the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed. Well organized with attention to details.
Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
